🎥 How to Report a Player / Record a Demo in CS 1.6
⚪ Purpose of This Guide
This tutorial is useful when no admin is online and a player is cheating or violating server rules. You'll learn how to:Record a demo
Capture the player’s Steam ID
Upload the evidence for admins
🟦 Step 1 – Record a Demo
🎯 Identify the player you want to reportLet’s say the player’s name is Pepík.
📝 Open your in-game console and type:
csharp
Copy
Edit
record Pepik
⚠️ Replace “Pepik” with any name you want for the demo file.
✅ Example: record cheater123
🎥 You’ll now be recording a demo.
Let it run until you’ve captured enough evidence. Then, to stop the recording, type:
arduino
Copy
Edit
stop
If done correctly, the console will say:
✅ “Completed demo”
📸 Click on images in your actual guide for full-screen preview (if included).
🟨 Step 2 – Screenshot the Steam ID (SID)
🧠 Why it's important:Every player has a unique Steam ID (even Non-Steam players). Admins need it to identify and ban the rule-breaker.
🎮 In the game, open console and type:
lua
Copy
Edit
status
A list of players and their Steam IDs will appear. Look for the player you recorded.
🆔 Examples of Steam IDs:
Steam version: STEAM_0:0:78189663
Non-Steam version: VALVE_78189663
📸 Then type:
nginx
Copy
Edit
snapshot
This takes a screenshot of the console window.
Alternatively, use https://ctrlv.cz to take and upload your own screenshot.
🟩 Step 3 – Upload the Demo and Screenshot
You’ll need to upload both the demo and the Steam ID screenshot.🔗 Recommended upload sites:
https://easyupload.io (Best for files)
https://ctrlv.cz (For images)
🟫 Where to Find Your Demo and Screenshot Files
Depending on your game version, here are typical paths to the cstrike folder where demos are saved:
🖥️ Steam Version:
java
Copy
Edit
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Half-Life\cstrike
🖥️ Non-Steam Versions:
makefile
Copy
Edit
C:\Program Files\Valve\cstrike
or
makefile
Copy
Edit
C:\Program Files\Counter Strike 1.6\cstrike
📁 Note: The exact path depends on where you installed the game.
If you’re using Windows Vista or newer, you might need to click on “Compatibility Files” in the file explorer toolbar to reveal your demo.
